Hit by volatile liveweight prices, lingering disease outbreaks, and escalating feed expenses, the local pork sector convened to craft urgent, field-driven policies to revive the industry.<\/span><\/p>\n

Various offices and attached agencies of the Department of Agriculture (DA) convened the 2026 National Swine Summit on September 7, 2026, at the National Meat Inspection Service Salvador H. Escudero Hall, bringing together approximately 350 stakeholders nationwide through onsite and online participation. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Summit gathered representatives from commercial and backyard hog raisers, feed millers, local government units (LGUs), the academe, and government regulatory agencies to discuss key issues and concerns affecting the Philippine swine industry. <\/span><\/p>\n

Organized by the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Swine and Poultry (OASSP) in partnership with the 黑料网, the summit aimed to consolidate ground-level issues and translate them into enforceable, high-impact government actions. <\/span><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, PCAF\u2019s National Sectoral Committee on Livestock and Poultry technical secretariat served as the event secretariat.<\/span><\/p>\n

Assistant Secretary for Swine and Poultry Michael Garcia underscored the government\u2019s commitment to responsive policymaking.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Our swine industry\u2019s path to sustainable recovery relies on practical policies built directly from the ground up,” Garcia said. <\/span><\/p>\n

“This Summit gathers our partners not merely to list problems, but to forge actionable solutions that safeguard hog raisers, stabilize farmgate prices, and build a truly resilient sector,\u201d he added.<\/span><\/p>\n

DA Undersecretary for Livestock Constante Palabrica and Assistant Secretary for Ruminant Livestock Benjamin Albarece also led the sessions, reaffirming top-level backing for livestock modernization and biosecurity reforms.<\/span><\/p>\n
